  • excessive amount of sugar;
  • greasy food/anything with a high number of calories.

And of course, it's recommended you go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Let's say 12am-7am.

Notice at which time you feel like a raging beast, and when the energy dips. Record these moments in your log. If the culminating energy moments will coincide from day to day — bingo! You have found your biological prime time.

What should I do with it?

Once you know your energy peaking time, the rest is simple. Just schedule your daily activities around it, leaving the unimportant and easy tasks for the moments when the biological energy goes down. Here are some useful tricks:

  1. Time-blocking. Block your energy peaks for everything, but your #1 priorities. Don't let your focus be sabotaged and your attention distracted. Don't let anyone ask you to give them this time unless you want to.
  2. Team. Know who you work with. If your colleagues are a flock of tranquil Night Owls — schedule brainstorms, meetings, etc. later. If they are Morning Birds — the best results will be achieved at the crack of dawn. If the team is mixed, try to stick to noon.
  3. Dips. When the energy level plunges, it's the perfect moment to take it easy. Switch to less demanding, mechanical task. Go to the gym or meditate. Do some yoga, have a light snack. Or let yourself unwind for a bit, sit back and enjoy your favorite podcast.
  4. Go creative. Also, when your energy decreases, it's a good moment to let your imagination run wild. Your mind will be less critical and conservative during this time, so maybe you'll be lucky to catch the next big idea.
  5. Responsibilities. Knowing when the energy goes up is awesome. But you shouldn't forget which time of day you personally prefer to schedule for working. There might be some other factors involved: family and kids, morning air humidity or calm evening atmosphere.

What to do to minimize energy dips?

  1. Healthy food. The more fats and sugars you consume, the less energy you have. Surprisingly. That happens because blood sugar levels skyrocket after you munch a cheeseburger. Plus your body is focused on the digestive process.
  2. Nitro inspiration. Some people prefer drinking green tea during a dip. Others are motivated mentally by thinking about why they work. Some may be earning cash for a journey to Bahamian Exuma Cays. Others want to revolutionize the market etc.
  3. Recharging. Naps. Healthy snacks. An eye massage. Maybe a few silly videos?
