Call of Duty®: Mobile
Call of Duty®: Mobile is a free to play shooter game for mobile devices based on the Unity engine and released by Activision Publishing Inc. in 2019.
Gameplay: Sticking to Original
The gameplay of Call of Duty Mobile basically adopts the traditional gameplay of the CoD series, just making the scale a bit smaller. There is nothing special about the gameplay of CoD Mobile, it is a classic shooter, where you run, shoot and complete objectives based on the game mode. However, there are not so many good shooters on mobile, giving Activision’s game a head start. Just like in any of the last CoD games, CoD Mobile has several game modes, including battle royale, options to play with friends and fight your way to the top in ranked battles.
Graphics: One of the Best on Mobile
Despite the fact, the game is based on the Unity engine, the graphics look really impressive, especially when compared to other mobile shooters. The game has one of the best visuals available: the textures are of a high resolution, the landscapes are not that vast, but comparably detailed and the guns look impressive as well.
The only issue with the graphics is the user interface. In a battle, you have plenty of features to use, including grenades or active perks, and you can also view the map, check the time remaining and the current score. There are also mic and sound buttons, the settings button, and the chat button fixed on the interface. The point is, this is too many buttons and overlays. This probably won’t be an issue for advanced gamers, but for those, who got used to simple two-button controls in mobile games will definitely face a problem with interface overload.
Controls: Pretty Comfortable
Despite the abovementioned interface issues, the controls are pretty smooth and comfortable. It is still a mobile shooter, but it seems mobile gamers have already got used to aim with sensor controls. As soon as you figure out how the interface works, you will find the controls rather convenient.
Verdict: Free to Try
CoD Mobile is a free to play game, in which the in-game purchases do not affect gameplay. Combined with the development and publishing by Activision, these facts give a sufficient reason to at least try the game.
- Call of Duty series goes mobile with its main features;
- Many game modes, including ranked games;
- In-game purchases do not affect gameplay.
- The user interface is not so friendly;
- Some users complain about balance and matchmaking issues.
